Privacy Policy

How The Center of Universal Divinity collects, uses, and protects the information you share with us — online, by text message, and through our ministry and housing counseling programs.

Last updated: October 1, 2026

1. Who We Are

The Center of Universal Divinity (“CUD,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a faith-based ministry and community service organization located at 5225 N. 2nd Street, Philadelphia, PA 19120.

This policy applies to this website and application (the “Site”) and to the programs and services we offer through it, including our prayer and community features, ministry programs, events, and housing counseling services.

2. Information We Collect

  • Information you give us: your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, and the content you submit — such as prayer requests, journal and reflection entries, event and program registrations, volunteer sign-ups, and messages sent to us.
  • Housing counseling information: if you request housing counseling, we may collect the information needed to assist you, including household size, income, housing and employment details, and documents you choose to provide. Some of this information is required for our counseling program records and reporting.
  • Communication records: records of the emails, text messages, and messages you exchange with us, together with your stated preferences about how we may contact you.
  • Information collected automatically: when you use the Site we may collect basic technical information such as the pages you visit, your device type, your browser type, and an approximate location derived from your IP address.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, operate, and improve the Site and deliver the programs and services you request.
  • To respond to your inquiries, prayer requests, and messages.
  • To schedule and remind you about counseling sessions, events, and programs.
  • To send ministry updates, program information, and other communications you have asked to receive — including text messages where you have agreed to receive them.
  • To meet the reporting, quality-control, compliance, funding, and legal obligations that apply to our programs.
  • To keep the Site and our records secure and to prevent misuse.
  • To understand how the Site is used so that we can improve it.

4. Text Message (SMS) Communications

If you provide your mobile phone number and agree to receive text messages, we may text you about appointment and session reminders, program and event information, ministry announcements, and service follow-ups. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of receiving our services.

Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP at any time to stop receiving text messages, or reply HELP for help. Full details are in our SMS Terms and Conditions.

5. Housing Counseling and Confidentiality

Information you share with our housing counseling program is treated as confidential. We collect, use, maintain, and disclose client information only for authorized program, counseling, reporting, quality-control, compliance, legal, funding, or other permitted purposes.

Access to confidential information is limited according to job responsibility and applicable policy. No system can eliminate all security risk; we apply our approved privacy, security, records, and incident-response controls. Our counselors preserve client choice and will disclose any material organizational or financial relationship with a referred provider where required.

6. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers. With vendors who help us operate the Site and communicate with you — for example, hosting, email, and messaging providers. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
  • Program partners and funders. With partner agencies, counseling intermediaries, or funders when required by the applicable program, and only as permitted.
  • At your direction. When you ask us to, or when you are referred to another provider with your consent.
  • Legal requirements and safety. When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of CUD or others.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

7. Cookies and Similar Technologies

The Site may use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the Site may not work properly if you disable them.

8. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information. Please note that no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. We ask that you not send sensitive information by unencrypted email or text message.

9. Data Retention

We keep your information for as long as needed to provide services, meet program and legal requirements, and resolve issues. Housing counseling records are retained according to applicable program requirements. When records are no longer needed, we dispose of them securely.

10. Your Choices and Rights

  • You can update your contact preferences or ask us to stop sending non-essential communications at any time.
  • You can opt out of text messages by replying STOP to any message from us.
  • You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, subject to applicable program recordkeeping requirements. We will respond as required by applicable law.
  • You may decline non-essential electronic communications and request reasonable alternatives.

11. Children’s Privacy

The Site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we can remove it.

12. Third-Party Links

The Site may link to other websites and services that we do not control. Those sites are governed by their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them.

13. Changes to This Policy
